Apologies for the delay between updates, we've been so busy doing cool stuff that time has whizzed by super fast! Term one has taken off with a hiss & a roar, and Dianne's syndicate decided to ease into the school year with some fun. However, making gingerbread men isn't as easy as it looks! We learnt how to read a recipe, understand fractions, weights and measurements, taste test & how to pre-heat the oven to the correct temperature. After baking our gingerbread men, the children then came back to decorate them & wow they looked amazing! We even made enough for them to take some home : )
Last week saw me making Lava Lamps with Zara's class who are just crazy about science - yay! There were squeals of delight when one of the lava lamps overflowed & we talked about making a hypothesis (a guess of what will happen based on our current level of knowledge) we talked about what a reaction is, and I made a promise to do more science experiments with them throughout the year.
As an aside, have you noticed the beautiful garden at the entrance of Victory Park, and the spectacular flower bed + seats in-between the M-Block classrooms? A big thank you to our very talented gardeners Avie & Ken for all of the hard work that you have put into these spaces, they bring much joy to many! I am working on a project to revive our vegetable garden, so if you are interested in helping, then please do not hesitate to touch base with me in the Learning Hub, I'd love to hear from you!
Lastly & by no means least - please remember that the Learning Hub is open from 9:00am - 9:30am for anyone to pop in & have a coffee/tea/hot/cold drink, read the paper and relax a bit before you start your day. The Nespresso coffees only cost $1.00! It would be lovely to see you : )
