We live in a fast paced ever evolving environment, and innovation has a very important role to play in how we build our houses moving forward. Ask your child to describe their dream house to you. Let them use their imagination, let them create their magical space, and remind them that anything is possible. You’ll be amazed at the response you get! I am always excited and amazed at the innovative proposals, ideas & solutions that our children come up with in order to solve both simple & complex problems, to improve a process, or to grow a great idea. It is our children that will shape the way we interact and live with each other in the future.
The MIT Media Lab in America has designed and developed a City Home, which has a very small footprint (840 square feet - less than 80 square metres), and via a transformable wall system can function as an apartment two to three times that size! The City Home showcases gesture, touch and voice control just to mention a few of its many features. It is an incredibly innovative use of space & is being touted as a potential saviour for those who cannot afford to step into home ownership. To see what I am talking about take a look at the YouTube clip below. It really is quite amazing!
