Penny's syndicate are busy researching Dinosaurs and fossils this term. There is a trip arranged to see the Tyrannosaurs exhibition at Te Papa, and we also have a number of cool activities lined up in the Learning Hub which include making our very own fossils, creating a fossil puzzle, making clay Dinosaur eggs plus Dinosaur costumes and much more.
Amy Austin's syndicate have been taking a close look at traditional Maori Medicine this term, with all classes attending a workshop in the Learning Hub this week hosted by the lovely Ariana who is a specialist in this field last. You can see photos of the children packing kawakawa leaves into glass preserving jars and covering them with grapeseed oil. The oil needs to sit & infuse for one month and then Ariana will return to take us through the second step in the process which is adding beeswax to our oil to make a balm - exciting!
Margarets syndicate will be joining me in the Learning Hub kitchen to bake some treats, practice reading recipes, following instructions and developing descriptive language based on what they are doing & what they see.
Don't forget that the Learning Hub is open from 9:00am to 9:30am for our school community to pop in, meet friends, have a hot/cold drink & read the paper, it would be great to see you!
